Anthrakia, Greek for "a fire of burning charcoal," is used twice in John's Gospel: first, to describe the fire, where Peter warmed his hands and denied knowing Jesus three times(18.18); second, to describe the burning coals our Risen Lord lit to prepare breakfast for his disciples by the Sea of Tiberias (21.9). Ash Wednesday falls on 01 March this year, and perhaps it not too early to be thinking about a good book to read during Lent.
