New Book by Scot McKnight on use of prayer books
Scot McKnight, author of The Jesus Creed is publishing a new book in May titled, Praying with the Church: Following Jesus Daily, Hourly, Today. The blurb about the book on Amazon.com suggests he will be looking at the prayerbook tradition in the Roman Catholic, Orthodox, Anglican and Jewish traditions, and suggesting ways this tradition might enrich standard Protestant worship and private devotions. I've pre-ordered the book because I'm interested in that topic, and because I know McKnight is a good writer and deep thinker.
Perhaps topics he brings up might be of interest to others on Anthrakia. Comments?
Best wishes,
Mason Smith

Mason, I started the posting below yours earlier today and then had to leave the house for a while. What a great announcement you've given us! I too will pre-order McKnight's book. Thanks again for the news.
After we get copies of McKnight's book, perhaps we can share our responses to what he says.
Yesterday I received a notice from amazon.com that Praying with the Church is on its way. But I'll have to wait until I get back to Kentucky on May 15 to pick it up inasmuch as the post office is holding all our mail until we get back. O well, maybe Mason can tell us a little about it if he gets it soon; a good long book review would do the trick!--and make my anticipation all the greater.
PS: If others of you are inclined, you might wish to order it. To see what sort of writer Scott McKnight is, visit Jesus Creed, the blog at the top of the list in the right frame.
